I couldn't read the phrase "a SNMP agent"

It inhibits my mouth, twists my tongue, forbids my brain nerves and nothing comes out of my mouth when I try to read this phrase. The so called article of English grammar that dictates the choice of 'a' or 'an' glues my tongue and I'm forced to read it as "an SNMP agent". I tried reading as it is many times but I fail every time. It's marked, stated, fixed in my mind that any word starting with vowel sound should be preceded by 'an' and not 'a'. Not even I could read this phrase in my mind. All because.... because.... because....

.....

i learned grammar recently(in college) and not in my school ;-)
